One of our editors is revisting a favorite classic of hers - My Cousin Rachel by Daphne du Maurier. Originally, I had wanted to check out Rebecca, the novel for which she's most well-known, but that just wasn't possible. I decided to read My Cousin Rachel entirely on a whim, and also because Natalie at Coffee and a Book Chick told me to. I read Rebecca earlier this year, and loved it, which led me to pick up My Cousin Rachel. This image of Grace Adler (Debra Messing) – and sometimes Bobbi Adler (Debbie Reynolds) – kept popping up as I sped my way through Daphne du Maurier's My Cousin Rachel. It's been years since I first saw the 1952 film, My Cousin Rachel, and a rereading on the book written by Daphne du Maurier sent me on a hunt for a copy. Like so many people who have read this book and have never been able to forget it, I was instantly captivated by Daphne Du Maurier's My Cousin Rachel (published in July of 1951) from the first time I read it as a teenager. This brings me to My Cousin Rachel, a book du Maurier published in 1951–13 years after Rebecca. That the narrator is also an orphan called Philip cemented the connection. Due to my great fondness of Daphne du Maurier and her romantic suspense novel Rebecca, I decided to read another novel of hers, entitled My Cousin Rachel. For my read this week, I chose a Classic Gothic novel entitled My Cousin Rachel by Daphne du Maurier. For twenty four years, Daphne Du Maurier has eluded me, and I'm still trying to figure out how! There's also an excellent film version of this book, but as I write this post, the film is OOP.
